AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP
Do you want to be part of a national AmeriCorps Seniors program, helping older adults give back?
Last year, local RSVP volunteers, aged 55+, made a difference:
- Food was provided to 2300 recipients in need: 94% of recipients stated they were eating more nutritious meals, with 90% trying new foods and 96% were eating more fruits and vegetables.
- 1000 homebound individuals received home delivered meals: 50% of recipients were over the age of 80, who reported feeling less social isolated and eating more regular meals. For many, the volunteer delivering the meals may be the only social contact they have.
- Health Education services were provided to over 400 older adults: Workshops were provided on topics such as chronic disease self-management, matter of balance and diabetes self-management. Clients stated increasing their health knowledge, making better health care and food choices.
