Volunteers are needed to answer phone calls from individuals interested in donating items, provide information about the donation process, and assist with scheduling donation pickups. This ongoing opportunity requires a regular commitment of one or two shifts per week and is ideal for volunteers who enjoy interacting with people, are comfortable speaking on the phone, and want to help connect valuable resources with those in need. Join us as a volunteer for Pickle in the Land 2026, taking place Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8, 2026, in downtown Cleveland. Volunteer shifts and times will vary throughout the event. Volunteers play an important role in creating a positive experience for participants and guests by assisting with event registration, supporting awards presentations, and serving as basket runners during tournament activities. This is a great opportunity to be part of a premier pickleball event, meet new people, and contribute to a fun and energetic atmosphere. As a thank you for your support, all volunteers will receive a Pickle in the Land volunteer t-shirt, along with beverages and snacks during their shift. Volunteers are needed to support a Thanksgiving Turkey and Ham Giveaway in Cleveland's Hough Neighborhood on Saturday, November 21, and Tuesday, November 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers will play an important role in helping ensure local families receive holiday meals by assisting with event setup, organizing and distributing turkeys and hams, directing participants, and helping with cleanup and breakdown at the conclusion of the event. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community, spread holiday cheer, and help make Thanksgiving brighter for families in need. Hospice volunteers bring comfort and support to patients and their loved ones in many ways, including assisting with fundraising efforts that help sustain important programs and services. You can make a difference by supporting a Warehouse Sale in the Collinwood neighborhood on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6. Volunteers are needed for three shifts: Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Responsibilities may include moving and arranging furniture, assisting customers on the sales floor, organizing merchandise, and helping create a welcoming shopping experience for attendees. - How long before I can volunteer?Answer:
The onboarding process varies by agency. Volunteer opportunities in the medical and social services fields usually have additional requirements (training sessions, immunizations), which can take up to two months to complete. Some opportunities will allow you to volunteer almost immediately. - Are background checks required?Answer:
All AARP Foundation Experience Corps Tutors are required to undergo a background check via Greater Cleveland Volunteers. All other volunteers may be subject to a background check depending on the agency and type of volunteer opportunity. - I have court ordered community service to do.Answer:
We recommend that individuals with court ordered community service consult our Events Calendar. This will be the best option in achieving required hours. After reviewing the calendar, contact the staff member listed to sign up to volunteer at one or more of the Events. - I am under age 18. My family would like to volunteer together. Can you help me?Answer:
Our agency works with volunteers aged 18 and over. Some of our partner agencies welcome families to volunteer together or have youth volunteering programs. We have a complete list of family/youth friendly agencies which offer a variety of volunteer opportunities and would be happy to pass on the information.
