Come celebrate Cleveland, pickles, and volunteerism while lending a helping hand at Cleveland Pickle Fest® on Saturday, October 3, benefiting Greater Cleveland Volunteers. Join the team on Mall C and assist with admissions, beverage ticket sales, festival tents, and the pickle-eating contest. Volunteer shifts are available between 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Looking to get involved even earlier? Volunteers are also needed for the 5K event from 7:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Volunteers are most needed for the 2:30-6:30 p.m. shift and the 5K race (Listed Under: Community Support, Search: Pickle)

Help bring fresh, local produce to communities across Greater Cleveland by volunteering at a Fresh Stop farm stand. Volunteers assist with produce pick-ups and distribution during one-hour shifts, twice per month or more, from June through December. Volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The 2026 USA Boxing National Open is seeking enthusiastic and dependable volunteers to serve as Ticketing Assistants and Ushers at this premier national boxing event in Downtown Cleveland from September 28 through October 3, 2026. Volunteers will help create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for athletes, coaches, families, and spectators by assisting with ticket sales and scanning, directing guests to seating areas, providing event information, and supporting crowd flow throughout the venue. Shifts are available daily between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., with two volunteer shift options offered each day. This is a great opportunity to support amateur boxing, gain hands-on event experience, and contribute to the success of a national championship tournament. Help support overdose prevention efforts across Ohio by volunteering with a statewide naloxone distribution program. Volunteers assist with preparing and processing mail-order shipments, helping ensure this life-saving resource reaches individuals and communities in need. Volunteer opportunities are available twice per month or weekly on Mondays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at a Cleveland location in the Edgewater neighborhood.   • How do I sign up to volunteer?

  • How long before I can volunteer?
    Answer:

    The onboarding process varies by agency. Volunteer opportunities in the medical and social services fields usually have additional requirements (training sessions, immunizations), which can take up to two months to complete. Some opportunities will allow you to volunteer almost immediately.

  • Are background checks required?
    Answer:

    All AARP Foundation Experience Corps Tutors are required to undergo a background check via Greater Cleveland Volunteers. All other volunteers may be subject to a background check depending on the agency and type of volunteer opportunity.

  • I have court ordered community service to do.
    Answer:

    We recommend that individuals with court ordered community service consult our Events Calendar. This will be the best option in achieving required hours. After reviewing the calendar, contact the staff member listed to sign up to volunteer at one or more of the Events.

  • I am under age 18. My family would like to volunteer together. Can you help me?
    Answer:

    Our agency works with volunteers aged 18 and over. Some of our partner agencies welcome families to volunteer together or have youth volunteering programs. We have a complete list of family/youth friendly agencies which offer a variety of volunteer opportunities and would be happy to pass on the information.   • I am part of a group, and we want to volunteer together.
    Answer:

    Many corporate or social groups are volunteering together to make their community better. We have volunteer opportunities in the areas of Hunger, Homelessness/Housing/Rebuilding, Community Support, Education, Older Adult Services, Environment, Health Services and Arts/Culture to connect your group to a meaningful volunteer experience.   • I have a disability. Can I still volunteer?
    Answer:

    Yes, of course. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available. We will work with each individual to discuss your abilities and limitations, and work together to find an opportunity that meets your needs.
