Do you want to be part of a national AmeriCorps Seniors program, helping older adults give back?
Last year, local RSVP volunteers, aged 55+, made a difference:
- Food was provided to over 3,900 recipients in need: 92% of recipients stated they were eating more nutritious meals, with 95% stating they were eating more fruits and vegetables.
- Over 350 homebound individuals received home delivered meals: 88% of clients stating they are eating more regularly scheduled meals and are able to remain living in their own home. For many, the volunteer delivering the meals may be the only social contact they have.
- Health Education services were provided to over 80 older adults: Workshops were provided on topics such as chronic disease self-management, matter of balance and diabetes self-management. Clients stated increasing their health knowledge, making better health care and food choices.
Volunteering has also been shown to improve the overall health of volunteers, leading to more rewarding lives:
